KARRATHA VISITOR CENTRE

Recreational Biking

In and around Karratha there are established pushbike tracks and trails for recreational use as well as a few Motocross clubs for dirtbike and quad racing.

There is a 15km loop Mountain Bike track running behind the hills of Karratha, which is rated "quite difficult" and takes approx 1-3 hours. It is a Group C grading according to the Trails WA (details here)

Here are a few different ways to get involved while you are visiting our area.....

The Burrup Mountain Bike Club offers bike hire to visitors wishing to try it out, and they also offer "Dirtmasters – Mountain Biking Skills for Kids (3-12)" These are practical sessions that teach kids of all ages and abilities the skills that make mountain biking so much fun. Sessions are presented by coaches who have achieved a minimum Level 0 MTBA coaching level. Once the basics are mastered we progress to conquering obstacles, lifting front and back wheels, bunny hopping and more! These sessions are held approximately once a month, generally occuring on Sunday Mornings at 0900 and run for between 60-90min. If you don’t have a mountain bike? That’s ok – any bike will do. What you need to bring is: a bike, helmet, water bottle and a parent.  Your will also need to be a MTBA member prior to the session ($50 for 12 months including Burrup MTB Club membership or a two month free trial is available). More details about the Club can be found here.

The Karratha BMX Club has a track located at the end of Rosemary road in Baynton, which can be utilised after obtaining a membership to the club. Contact them here

There are two motocross clubs, Karratha Enduro and Motocross Club and the WRAPS (Wickham, Roebourne and Point Samson) Motocross. These clubs both have tracks available in the area and welcome visitors to contact them about their meets and competitions.
